I took the girls to the mall this morning. While strolling along my three year old asks, “Was that a boy or a girl?” while gesturing toward a guy walking by.
I barely caught this guy in my periphery but it was enough to be relatively certain he was a he. “That’s a boy”
Girl: But he has a necklace on
Dad: Some men were necklaces
Girl: Daddy! That is silly. Boys don’t wear necklaces!
Dad: Sure they can. I don’t, but some boys do.
Girl: Oh (while giggling) they need to be a real boy like you
Dad: Huh … thanks kid

Well, well, well! -My wife and I were chatting about a friend who was having a drinking water well drilled on his property.
"They're down to around 200 feet now." I said.
"What kind of well are they digging?" My son interjected.
"Well, a water well of course. What other kinds of wells are there?" I said matter-of-factly.
My son said, with DUH intonation and attitude, "Wishing Wells!!!"
I laughed so hard I couldn't catch a breath. He comes up with some good ones.
Pink, the new black -I've uploaded a couple of my sons pre Junior prom pictures to the D is for Dad Flickr group. It was a blast taking the photos and we are so grateful he thought to include us. You can get to the Flickr group by clicking any of those images in the upper right corner.

At a young age he liked to submerge his ears and listen to everyday sounds as heard through water.
Amazing picture! I’m surprised he’s ok with his ears in the water. That’s really great! My little boy loves water but is no where near putting his ears in the water that’s for sure. He just looks so content to be there.

I’m surprised about the ears under water too. My son would not go for that, even though he loves the water. Our biggest challenge is getting him not to drink the water, especially after he’s peed in it
