Do something good with your phone

Feb 8th, 2008 | By Chuck | Category: Public Service

… other than throw it out the window.

waa While out and about today I noticed a billboard advertising Wireless AMBER Alerts. I had no idea this service was available. This seemed like a really good idea so I pulled into the nearest McDonalds off the road and signed up. The signup process is painless and I felt pretty good for having done it.

If you haven’t already signed up for this service, please consider it.

Resources

The AMBER Alert Program is a voluntary partnership between law-enforcement agencies, broadcasters, transportation agencies, and the wireless industry, to activate an urgent bulletin in the most serious child-abduction cases. The goal of an AMBER Alert is to instantly galvanize the entire community to assist in the search for and the safe recovery of the child.

So, I’m blog hopping along and here for the first time, and I have to admit that as I was reading down (cuz you all seem like nice guys here, and you’re funny), I didn’t actually figure out at first that you were more than one person, and I’m all like “ok, so he has a teenager…and a 4 month old…and a son…and a three year old…and an 18 month old” at which point I started desperately looking for some kind of “About ME” thingy because I figure any Dad with that many kids spread so far apart must know some things I don’t, and besides my morbid curiosity to find out just exactly HOW MANY kids that dad had (like, were there more that just didn’t get mentioned in those few posts I read?) Seven seemed like a good guess… And then I figured out there were three of you. And it made a lot more sense. And even though I’m slightly less impressed than I was a couple of minutes ago, I still look forward to coming back here. :) Thanks.

This is a great idea. I haven’t heard of it before, either. Wish I’d included it in the post on my blog today about cell phones and teens. Think I’ll do a follow up blog in a couple of weeks and link it back to your post today, if that’s okay with you?

I am wondering how this tag is received out there in the US. In most Asian countries generally believest that to cane is part of discipline. i wonder what’s your side on this. pls drop me a line at my blog if you have done this. Your co authors may do the same tag if they are interested. :)
